Four Truths of the Gospel (Good News)
(When sharing the gospel, these are four truths that you want to be sure to share and four action steps that you want to invite others to take in response to the truth of the gospel.)
Truth #1
God created us to glorify Him by loving Him with all of our heart, soul, mind and strength and loving others as we love ourselves.
Mark 12:30-31 Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind and with all your strength.’ The second is this: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’ There is no commandment greater than these.
Our Response:
(Acknowledge) We acknowledge that God created us to glorify Him by loving Him with all of our heart, soul, mind and strength and loving others as we love ourselves.
Truth #2
We have all sinned against God and others.
1 John 1:8-9. If we claim to be without sin, we deceive ourselves and the truth is not in us. If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness.
Our Response
(Confess): We confess that we have sinned against God by not obeying Him and have sinned against others by failing to truly love them.
Truth #3
God gave His Son, Jesus, so that we can be forgiven.
Romans 5:8 But God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us.
Acts 3:19 Repent, then, and turn to God, so that your sins may be wiped out, that times of refreshing may come from the Lord,
Our Response
(Repent): We repent as we turn away from sin and accept the sacrifice of Jesus as the one source of our forgiveness and we trust Him as our Savior.
Truth #4
God gave His Holy Spirit so that we can love and live like Jesus.
John 15:15-16 “If you love me, keep my commands. And I will ask the Father, and He will give you another advocate to help you and be with you forever— the Spirit of truth. The world cannot accept Him, because it neither sees Him nor knows Him. But you know Him, for He lives with you and will be in you.
Our Response
(Surrender): We surrender our will and our life as we ask for and receive the gift of His Holy Spirit, and He becomes the Lord of our lives and we become a part of His kingdom.
